![]() Then BE VERY CAREFUL about what disks and partitions you restore. Then boot from the Macrium Rescue Media, which is basically a light windows. Then disconnect all unnecessary disks except your OS disk and the disk that contains the backup file. Then you should create a bootable cd or pendrive in Macrium using the Create Rescue Media menu. I suggest to first create a new full disk image backup to an external disk, just to make sure you have an actual backup and won't lose everything if your restore action goes wrong. This means you lose everything you stored in the Documents folder since the backup was created, for example. It just simply overwrites your disk with the data from a previous backup. Image recovery has nothing to do with windows install. Macrium is not trivial, it needs some practice to learn. You can even do it using virtual machines, so you don't have to risk your "real" computer. Your first task when setting up a new backup software is to learn and try out how to do the recovery. It's pointless to have a backup software that you don't know how to use. I've never restored an image from Macrium before Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '”
